Had my 40 week appt today.. STILL 3cm and 70% effaced.. But he did another membrane sweep and informed me that I’m actually having contractions (I just thought the baby was pushing herself up or something?) ..
Then I started feeling like crap, very nauseous, clammy, yucky.. So I went to work from 9:30 to 1 and then hubby and I left.. thats when the contractions really kicked in.. They’ve been semi-regular since then… not real painful, just annoyingly uncomfortable.
If all goes well, we’ll have a baby this weekend!!
I had my 39 week appt today and it was great.. I got to see MY Ob again after seeing a midwife for 2 weeks straight.. (nothing against midwives.. I’ve just been seeing this OB/Gyn for 4 years and I’m very attached)..
He said we had to have the “what is the end date” conversation.. as in, how far do I want to go over my due date.. I’m due the 11th and said “I’m cool with inducing the 12th..” mostly just joking, because honestly I don’t WANT to be induced at all.. But he said he doesn’t induce anyone until 41 weeks unless it’s medically neccessary (GD, Pre-e, etc.) .. So I said “cool, how about the 18th then?” .. then he said he prefers to be the doctor DOING the induction and he’s not on call until the 20th.. THE 20th!
So unless baby girl makes her arrival before then, I’ll be induced on the 20th.. I don’t know if I can mentally wait another 16 days.. but we’ll see
Okay, I haven’t updated nearly as much as I should.. have just been so very busy with ... well, life.
Baby is cooking well ... she’s head down, which is a good thing, as right now it would be pretty impossible for her to turn.. and I turn 37 weeks tomorrow!
Last week at the doctor, he did a cervical check and I was already 2cm dilated, 25% effaced and “soft” .. That’s a good thing I suppose
He said it gave no real indication as to “when” but that it was a good sign that my body knew what to do, and was starting to do it. Yay!
I go back tomorrow and see the midwife that covers his patients when he doesn’t have time. I was going to say no to another cervical check, but with the amount of pain and discomfort I’ve been having, as well as the increased contraction activity, I might ask her to take a peek just in case.
Christmas was nice.. My sister, Mike and I drove up to Spokane to spend some time with my family up there and it’s a good thing we did, as my stepmom’s health was just getting worse and worse.
Which brings me to the bad news.. My stepmom passed away last week. As you might remember she was diagnosed with lung cancer last June and had part of her right lung removed. After that it was a pretty rough down hill battle. She started chemo in September, but had a bad reaction to it and started seizing. Her brain was swelling from the chemo, which caused the seizures. During her recovery for this, they found that her hip had broken sometime in the madness.. It had broken so badly they had to replace the entire hip socket and part of her thigh bone. It was then they presumed the cancer was moving into her bones. After many many weeks in the hospital and then physical rehab clinic, she was allowed to go back home right around Thanksgiving.
Right before Christmas, she had another body scan where they found that the cancer had spread to her liver, stomach, spine and shoulder area. At this point, the doctors gave her 3 to 6 months, but probably closer to 3.. Needless to say, the visit at Christmas time was very bittersweet and hard on us all. We all wanted SO MUCH for her to meet Morgan once she’s born.. Obviously, she wasn’t able to, but she did get to spend one final weekend in a cabin up at Priest Lake Idaho with the rest of the family, and was able to sleep in the same bed as my dad for the first time since October.
Her memorial service is going to be this coming weekend, so Mike and I are heading up to Spokane on Friday. Hopefully it’ll be an amazing celebration of the life she lead, rather than a sad occasion.
Thanks to those on Facebook that expressed your condolences, we really do appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers that have come our way.. To everyone else, I apologize for not updating sooner!
